THE MICRO-EUROPA PROJECT
Micro-Europa is a European radio network ruled by journalism schools in Europe. It aims at training a new generation of journalists concerned with a new vision on European information: the purpose is to connect European matters and decisions with citizens’ everyday concerns where they live, work or study… Our concept of local/regional European journalism is a way to restore a dialogue between Europe and its citizens.
On air and online, our campus radios monthly broadcast sounds from cities, villages and regions all over Europe on a common topic. This horizontal way of reporting on Europe is part of a global communication scheme which also includes top-down and bottom-up dimensions: how to connect information made by Brussels correspondents with local concerns? How to bring a European concern in the everyday work of local or regional journalists?
This project is meant to have as well a European as an intercultural and interregional dimension. It is also definitely a political project aiming at stimulating European citizenship and democracy.
This program is co-financed by the DG for Education and Culture of the European Commission.
